About

What is Fed Meetup?

Fed Meetup helps federal employees compare travel costs between destinations for group travel. It uses GSA City Pair and Per Diem rates to calculate estimates for airfare, lodging, and meals & incidentals.

For example, say you are responsible for organizaing an in-person event for your federal organization. Your org has people that live all across the country. How do you select the most cost-effective destination based on the people who will be traveling?

Fed Meetup lets you input the length of travel and all the people traveling, along with all the locations they will be traveling from. It also lets you select all the destinations you would like to compare (some agencies even have presets, so you could quickly compare across all of your agency's locations). When you are ready to compare destinations, Fed Meetup will calculate all the different combinations of origins/destinations and will rank destinations based on their airfare and per diem costs.

Why Was Fed Meetup Created?

The short answer is that tax payer dollars matter. Federal employers should understand cost differences between destinations for group travel. Group events can easily cost five- or six-figures from travel alone depending how many people are traveling. Understanding destination costs can save taxpayers thousands of dollars per "meetup".
